We are the York family
Louisa and Keith have been married for 28 years, and we have two sons, Bobby and Charlie, aged 24 and 15 years. We set up our childcare business around 14 years ago, and we work as a husband and wife team. Our newest venture is our ‘Rhubarb & Burble’ blog and YouTube channel.
Louisa has a degree in Library and Information Studies and worked as a college and school librarian for 13 years.
She was a volunteer teaching assistant for 15 months at Newport Community School Primary Academy and was a Governor there for six and a half years.
She is a North Devon District Councillor and a Barnstaple Town Councillor, and was the Mayor of Barnstaple from May 2022-May 2024.
She is a Trustee of Age Concern Barnstaple & North Devon.
She is a former Trustee of Trustee of The North Devon Forum for Autistic Spectrum Conditions and ADHD, Barnstaple Youth House, and Barnstaple Almshouses.
Favourite children’s book: The ‘Harry Potter’ stories by J. K. Rowling.
Likes: Knitting and creating content for her blog and Instagram page.
Keith worked at the BBC for 21 years as a TV Producer and still does some freelance work for them.
He has a degree in French and linguistics.
He is a former Parent Governor at Pathfield School.
He is a former Trustee of the North Devon Forum for Autistic Spectrum Conditions and ADHD.
Favourite children’s book: ‘Eight days of Luke’ by Diana Wynne Jones.
Likes: Reading stories, history, science and days out.
We are conveniently located in the Newport area of Barnstaple in the beautiful countryside of North Devon.
We are members of the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY).
We achieved a grading of ‘Good’ at our Ofsted Early Years inspection. We are inspected slightly differently now, as we’re no longer on the EY Register.
We attend relevant professional training courses.
